A master's dissertation was discussed in the College of Engineering, University of Mosul on designing an intelligent environmental pollution monitoring system based on the Internet of Things by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Raghad Hazem Saeed. The dissertation aimed at designing a smart environmental device to monitor major gaseous pollutants in the City of Mosul and a firefighting system based on the use of the Internet of Things. The dissertation demonstrated that the device works by sending an alert message via phone, e-mail or any smart application to the competent authorities to avoid the risk of pollution before it occurs, as well as a fire-fighting system designed with complete dependence on the aforementioned smart environmental air pollution control system, which is characterized by low cost and covers real-time data for the purpose of view them anytime and anywhere as needed to avoid the risk of environmental disasters. The dissertation highlighted that the device was tested in several areas of the City of Mosul and proved its effectiveness, as the tests showed that there is a difference in the concentrations of gases for the difference in the examination area.
