Higher Education: Three Iraqi Universities Compete in 2025 WURI World University Rankings

The Ministry of higher Education and Scientific Research announced that Iraq achieved significant progress in global rankings with three universities listed in the 2025 WURI World University Rankings, which score the innovative performance of educational institutions.


Higher Education reviewed that the University of Basrah obtained the score 263rd globally, while the Middle Technical University obtained the score 301-350th and the University of Babylon obtained the score 353rd out of 400 universities included in the ranking.


Higher Education also reviewed that the Middle Technical University achieved positive distinction by appearing in four of the 16 categories, including second place in the Culture-Values category, which fosters an environment of innovation on campus.


Higher Education highlighted that the WURI ranking is based on sixteen key criteria that assess the innovation and societal impact of academic institutions, most notably: innovation in education, entrepreneurship and startups, industry collaboration, social responsibility, ethical values and integrity, crisis response, digital transformation and environmental sustainability.


Higher Education demonstrated that this ranking (https://www.wuri.world/wuri-ranking-2025) is issued by Hansung University in South Korea in collaboration with international academic organizations, it aims at highlighting universities that offer innovative and interactive solutions in higher education, scientific research and community service.
