A joint research team from the Universities of Al-Mustansiriyah, Baghdad and Technology conducted joint study on improving and increasing of the efficiency of solar cell systems. The joint study aimed at implementing the techniques that depend on modifying the values of the controller filters used in traditional extremist control and benefiting from them to develop performance and raise the efficiency of solar cells and increasing the maximum power point tracking of PV systems. The joint study, which was published in the British Journal of Materials Science and Engineering in Scopus, reviewed using of modern optimization methods, the most important of which are the genetic algorithm and the grey wolf optimization algorithm, relying on it as a control tool for control unit parameters and obtaining the maximum power point for solar cell systems. The joint study highlighted the effectiveness of the proposed gray wolf optimization algorithm method in designing the control unit and obtaining more power and a higher tracking speed for the maximum power point of solar cell systems compared to the traditional controller used in this field. It is worth mentioning that the research joint team was the faculty member in Al-Mustansiriyah University, Dr. Abbas Hussein Mry, the faculty member in Baghdad University, Dr. Ali Hussein Mry and the faculty member in Technology University, Dr. Muhammad Hussein Mry.
