College of Science, Thi-Qar University discussed a master dissertation on genetic analysis and chromosomal abnormalities in patients with diabetic nephropathy by the postgraduate student, Ms. Ayat Rashid Hamid.

The dissertation aimed at analyzing the role of the TLR4 gene in the blood of patients with diabetes and diabetic nephropathy and comparing it with that of healthy individuals, as well as studying chromosomal abnormalities in patients with diabetes using advanced molecular techniques.

The dissertation included identifying potential biomarkers that can be used for early detection and diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy, as well as evaluating some biochemical parameters in patients with kidney failure and comparing them with those of diabetic and renal failure patients and healthy individuals.

The dissertation demonstrated that genetic changes and chromosomal abnormalities may play a pivotal role in the development of diabetic nephropathy, opening new avenues for adopting early diagnostic strategies and preventive programs that limit the progression of the disease and its complications.
