College of Environmental Sciences, Al-Qasim Green University discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the treatment of some organic pollutants in the aquatic environment using the advanced oxidation process (AOP). by the postgraduate student, Ms. Rusul Jabbar Lafta Abdullah
The thesis reviewed treating some difficult-to-degrade organic pollutants, such as dyes, drugs, and antibiotics, in the aquatic environment using advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), AOPs are based on catalysts such as chitosan, carbon, Nanotubes, biogas, and zeolites, as well as increasing the removal efficiency of these pollutants, reducing their toxic effects on the aquatic environment and converting them into safe and environmentally friendly products.
The thesis demonstrated the high effectiveness of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) in removing these difficult-to-degrade organic pollutants, besides of catalysts (zeolites, carbon nanotubes, biogar, and chitosan) also contributed to significantly increasing the treatment efficiency and the combination of oxidation processes and catalysts represents an effective and sustainable approach to treating contaminated water.
