A master's dissertation was discussed in the College of Engineering, University of Thi-Qar on studying of the hydrodynamic properties of breakwaters in the Great Port of Al-Faw by the postgraduate student, Mr. Aziz Mayouf. The dissertation reviewed the impact of the Port on the pattern of waves in the Iraqi coastal area, as well as evaluating the performance of the breaker, as the General Company for Iraqi Ports and the Korean Daewoo Company were dealt with to collect the necessary data for the study. The dissertation demonstrated a numerical simulation of the wave conditions before and after the establishment of the Port, as it reviewed the impact that the presence of breakwaters had on the wave pattern in the Iraqi coastal area, which in turn would affect the coastline progress, as well as testing the efficiency of the breakwater in the Port of Al-Faw by assuming multiple scenarios for the wave to demonstrate its ability to repel waves and provide the conditions for the docking of ships.
