Dr. Al-Esa: On Supporting Sustainable Development & Enhancing Iraqi Economy

During Energy Forum in Baghdad, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jalel Al-Esa confirmed on that the Ministry is keen on supporting the sustainable development and enhancing Iraqi economy.

His Excellency said that the Ministry through its various systems provided an integrated vision that contributed in making higher education as a central focus of science, knowledge and decision-making skills in all walks of life through producing capable intellectual, scientific, administrative and economic leaders to lead in various institutions.

Dr. Al-Esa added that the ministry is keen on supporting sustainable development and enhancing the Iraqi economy, including directing the colleges of agriculture to take the necessary procedures to develop and encourage non-traditional agriculture such as plants of industrial use, especially plants in the medical industries, as well as raising the efficiency of human resources to revitalize the labor market and update the technical education curricula to develop new skills that meet the requirements of the market, raise the efficiency of graduates and enable them to find suitable job opportunities.

His Excellency said that the Ministry allocated 200 million dinars to each university to establish a solar energy system to reduce using the traditional methods of generating electricity, Dr. Al-Esa reviewed that the applied researches have been adopted to solve problems in the society via postgraduate students and researchers in higher education, science and technology through activating industrial and agricultural projects to be invested in supporting the national economy.

His Excellency confirmed on that the Ministry established a special parallel education channel to support the resources of universities in order to fund the university development projects and completion of buildings with advanced achievement ratios and the ministry also issued licenses to establish private specialized colleges, especially in the field of energy engineering and technical education to attract foreign students to study.
