During a joint meeting in Erbil and Under the patronage and guidance of His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi, the Ministries of Higher Education in the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government signed a joint agreement to regulate the mechanisms for the exchange of student admissions between universities in the central and regional governments.
Dr. Al-Aboudi added that the two sides emphasized that this important
agreement, which is the first to be reached to define procedures and
implementation mechanisms, is part of a government approach aimed at
facilitating the movement of students and researchers and strengthening understanding, scientific
partnership and bonds of
cooperation and integration between academic institutions across Iraq.
His Excellency reviewed that the agreement includes allocating study seats
within undergraduate and postgraduate
programs for both parties, including medical, engineering, humanities and
technical specialties according to the
regulations approved by both parties and the official application and
competition procedures, starting in the academic year 2025/2026.
It is worth to be mentioned that the meeting was attended by the Deputy
of the Ministry of Higher Education for Scientific Research, Dr. Haider Abd
Dhahad, Minister of Higher Education in the regional government, Dr. Aram
Mohammed Qadir Amin and a number of officials responsible for academic
supervision, evaluation and quality assurance, as well as general managers and
advisors.
