College of Agriculture, Al-Qasim Green University discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the pedogenetic distribution and spatial variability of some fertility traits and their relation to some spectral indicators using geospatial techniques by the postgraduate student, Ms. Rand Walid Madi.
The thesis aimed at demonstrating some spectral indicators and their relation to some soil traits, identifying the variability of soil traits using traditional statistics and mapping the spatial distribution of soil traits.
The thesis reviewed variability in various soil traits, most notably salinity and available nutrients, available phosphorus content is inversely proportional to available zinc content and higher available boron content is associated with higher salinity.
The thesis recommended studying the spatial variability of soil traits using other statistical methods and expanding the study of soil traits using modern technologies such as remote sensing and geographic information systems.
