During a meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Jassim Muhammad Hamad and his accompanying delegation, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib reviewed studying and evaluating institutional performance according to the European Excellence Standards EFQM. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib stressed on the importance of developing institutional performance at the Ministry and universities, supporting the distinguished research centers, opening on all State’s institutions, continuing in the fields of training and rehabilitation, providing of a scientific environment for the reviewing, improving of performance, strengthening of strengths via developing international and local partnerships, intertwining cooperation in light of the philosophy of community-based institutions, diagnosing improvement opportunities and setting programs for their development. His Excellency added that the meeting agreed on investing the energies of academic research centers and centers of continuing education, developing a program for universities to evaluate institutional performance, forming specialized teams in educational institutions to carry out this task and to be linked to the Ministerial Institutional Team, choosing universities to test their institutional performance according to the European Excellence Model EFQM, agreeing on a scientific conference in this field between the Ministry of Higher education and scientific research and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, increasing the number of residents accredited to the European Foundation for Quality Management in the field of institutional performance assessment and cooperating with the State’s institutions and Ministries in several fields, including industry, education, economy, health and law. For his part, Dr. Hamad said that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research possesses an important institutional performance, a vision for developing universities and institutions and facing challenges. It is worth mentioning that at the conclusion of the meeting, the General Secretariat team praised the efforts of the institutional performance team in the Ministry via the presentation that included the strides made in this field, as well as the meeting was attended by the Higher Education’s Deputy for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Yassin Al-Ethawi, the Director of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation, Dr. Salah Al-Fatlawi and a number of specialists.
