Dr. Abid Al-Sahib, Egypt in Academic Cooperation

During a meeting with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Walid Mohamed Ismail and the accompanying delegation, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib called on opening of a cultural attaché in Cairo to follow up on student affairs and facilitate admission procedures to Egyptian universities, which host not a small number of Iraqi students. His Excellency expressed the Ministry keenness for further development of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Cairo in all the fields, especially scientific and academic cooperation. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib stressed on the importance of promoting cultural exchange via scholarships. His Excellency reviewed the Iraqi universities' readiness on providing grants to the Egyptian side in various fields, while suggesting that these scholarships be among the rare specialties and activating joint supervision in postgraduate studies, twinning between universities and the post-doctoral research grant. For his part, Mr. Ismail stressed on working to overcome obstacles facing Iraqi students studying in Egypt and facilitating visa and residency procedures. Mr. Ismail reviewed the Egyptian side’s agreeing with the opinion of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on the need to review the contexts in this field and develop the environment of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. It is worth mentioning that the meeting was attended by the Director General of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations.
