College of Pure Sciences, Thi-Qar University discussed a master dissertation on the effect of drug (TAXOL) on immune parameters and histological changes in laboratory rats, by the postgraduate student, Ms. Zahraa Yusr Hamoud.

The dissertation aimed at revealing the biological, histological and immunological effects of the drug Paclitaxel (TAXOL) when used in animal models, as well as analyzing the drug's effect on several hematological parameters, including white and red blood cells, lymphocytes, neutrophils, basophils and eosinophils and evaluating its effect on some cellular motility and particularly interleukin.

The dissertation concluded that TAXOL is a non-targeting drug, as it spreads throughout the body without distinguishing between healthy and cancerous cells and exhibited immune effects related to the concentration of the doses used, as well as emphasizing the need for caution when using it in therapeutic applications.
