During a meeting with the Deputy of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Mikalai Barisevich and his accompanying delegation, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib directed to form of a Ministerial Committee to follow up, implement and develop forms of cooperation with Belarus in the field of studying and researching fellowships, exchanging of faculty members and joint supervision. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib expressed the Ministry’s keenness on supporting the cooperation between the universities of the two countries in the fields of scientific, academic and cultural relations. His Excellency called on investing openness between the two countries, enabling their academic institutions to achieve and meet the requirements of joint cooperation, accelerating the steps of agreements and understandings and increasing the scholarships. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib stressed the Iraqi universities’ readiness on admitting the students from Belarus who intent to study in Iraq and learn about the culture and history of Iraq in the region and the world. For his part, Mr. Barisevich said that cooperation with Iraq is very important and that coordination and understanding with Iraqi universities is in the interest of both countries. Mr. Barisevich appreciated the stand of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in supporting, developing and providing educational opportunities for foreign students and its keenness on promoting rare specialties and submitting proposals to overcome the difficulties faced by Iraqis studying in Belarus and to follow up on the evaluation of foreign universities in the international rankings. It is worth mentioning that the meeting was attended by the Director General of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations.
