College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Diyala discussed a master dissertation on the relation between ischemic modified albumin (IMA), oxidative stress and antioxidants in patients with ischemic heart disease by the postgraduate student, Ms. Ghufran Abdul Sattar Abdullah.
The dissertation aimed at investigating the links between ischemic modified albumin (IMA), oxidative stress and the antioxidant system, their relation to the occurrence of ischemic heart disease and their potential roles in the development of myocardial infarction (MI).
The dissertation reviewed a significant increase in IMA levels in patients with myocardial infarction, confirming the pathophysiological impact of oxidative stress, as well as reviewing an inverse relation between DPPH and protein levels, as well as decreasing levels of zinc (Zn) and selenium (Se) in patients.
