A joint research team in Al-Mustansiriyah and Technology Universities published a study in the Journal of Information Security and Applications in Clarivate and Scopus on color-encoding based on the modified Playfair algorithm and the chaotic system. The study aimed at making an amendment to the encryption algorithm (Playfair) and fining a new way to encode the color images in order to maintain its confidentiality during the process of online sending. The study reviewed encoding of color images according to the theory of chaos in the (diffusion) and (confusion) operations, where the process of (diffusion) was performed via using a cross map to scatter the pixels in each band) from the image, and a confusion was performed with the modified Playfair algorithm. The study also reviewed that the proposed new method works to divide the image into a specified number of pixels, each pixel is 16 x 16 bytes to be encoded with a different (Playfair) matrix. The study highlighted that the proposed method is characterized by its high resistance to differential and statistical attacks after encoded by Playfair which are highly sensitive to a slight change in secret keys and safer than the traditional encoding. It is worth mentioning that the joint research team was represented by University of Al-Mustansiriyh, Dr. Ikhlas Abbas Jabr, and Mrs. Amal Abdul Baqi Marioush and Technology University, Dr. Sadiq Hani.
