A joint research team in the Universities of Al-Mustansiriyah and Technology conducted a joint study on manufacturing a gas sensor to detect environmental pollution. The study reviewed preparing of a compound (tin dioxide: Nano copper oxide) with different concentrations of copper oxide, its deposition on porous silicon prepared in a manner (photo electrochemical etching), the formation of an ammonia gas sensor by Nano-composition (SnO2: CuO / Psi) at room temperature, as well as testing the composite properties via X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersion spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The study, which was published in a Recognized International Journal in SCOPUS, demonstrated that the new sensor is characterized by its high ability and accuracy in detecting environmental pollution resulting from gases in the atmosphere. It is worth mentioning that the joint research team was the faculty member in Al-Mustansiriya University, Dr. Ali Ahmed Youssef and the faculty members in Technology University, Dr. Alwan Muhammad Alwan and the researcher, Mr. Hussam Rifat Abd.
