College of Nursing, University of Misan organized a symposium on congenital heart anomalies in children by the faculty member, Mr. Saad Sabry Shamikh. The symposium reviewed that congenital heart defects are responsible for infant mortality at an early age more than any other health problems. A child with heart problems may suffer from clear symptoms, while it may not appear on another sick child. The symposium demonstrated the symptoms of congenital heart defects in children, as defects usually appear shortly after birth or during the first few months of his life. The symposium also reviewed that the abnormalities can include some signs and symptoms, including bluish skin color, rapid breathing, swelling in the legs or areas around the eyes, and shortness of breath during breastfeeding, which leads to weight loss.
