During a meeting of Deans of Colleges of Agriculture, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jalel Al-Esa confirmed on directing the specialized agricultural colleges to develop the non-traditional agriculture.

Dr. Al-Esa said that the meeting reviewed the recommendations of the specialized workshops of the Directorate of Research and Development and His Excellency added that necessitates of the current situation need to make agriculture to play essential role in supporting the national economy.

Dr. Al-Esa said that the Colleges of Agriculture trend towards non-traditional agriculture, especially in the field of medical herbs considered as a correct basic step.

His Excellency confirmed on the importance to cooperate with the international organizations to reduce the impact of the climate changes, set the curriculum and the scientific visions to support developing the programmed irrigation mechanisms, combating desertification, reducing environmental pollution ,promoting feed and fertilizers industry and coordinating with the relevant government institutions according to a specific work plan and time limits.

It is worth mentioning that the meeting reviewed the visions and Decisions that will develop the agricultural specialties in the Iraqi universities as well as valuing the planting one million trees project of the College of Agriculture, University of Baghdad, a number of other universities and other governmental bodies.
