During a meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq, Mr. Martin Haute and Director of the Projects Department in the Mission, Mrs. Barbara Egger, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib reviewed exchanging the scientific and knowledge process between Iraqi universities and their counterparts in the European Union, as well as reviewing the educational indicators in the light of Corona Epidemic. His Excellency said that the Ministry is keen on cooperating with the UNESCO in promoting the development programs in the field of vocational and technical education. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib added that the Iraqi specialized universities in technical education are ready to cooperate with the recognized universities in European countries in the field of skills development. His Excellency highlighted that the cooperation with the European Union countries contributes in developing the vocational and technical education in Iraq and enhancing the specializations and skills to meet the needs of the labor market. For his part, Mr. Martin Haute said that the European Union’s countries are keen on developing the bilateral cooperation and increasing coordination with Iraqi universities. Mr. Haute said that cooperation between the European Union and Iraq in higher education programs is basing on a high coordination. Mr. Haute added that the European Union has a work program and visits to a number of specialized universities in technical education via involving the largest number of Iraqi universities in this field.
