His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib reviewed the importance of upgrading and developing Iraqi scientific journals and enhancing the international academic reputation of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s institutions in Iraq. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib urged universities to increase the number of Iraqi journals in international websites, to publish the publication of researches of faculty members and postgraduate students in Iraqi scientific journals with impact factor and to form recognized research teams from public and private universities and colleges to increase and achieve scientific publishing by more than one institution according to specialization and within the cognitive integration. His Excellency called on private universities and colleges to support research and scientific publishing and form of specialized scientific journals. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib confirmed on that the Office of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation undertakes the process of evaluating institutions according to the achievement of scientific requirements and indicators of the recognition of the graduates. His Excellency stressed on strengthening of universities' websites and enabling researchers and students to link local scientific journals that are included in global websites. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib highlighted the importance of international openness and the involvement of world researchers in publishing their researches in Iraqi universities' journals, perpetuating the knowledge cooperation and academic communication, and benefiting from Iraq's scholars abroad in reviewing and developing mechanisms to improve education and international reputation.
