A Ph.D. thesis was discussed in the College of Medicine, University of Babylon on the molecular homology of the bacterium that causes bacterial vaginosis in women with abortions by the postgraduate student, Mrs Alla’a Kitab Hameed. The study was conducted on 150 patients were divided into two groups, the first group on 75 women with bacterial vaginosis and abortion and the second group on 75 women with bacterial vaginosis without abortion). The study reviewed that the women with bacterial vaginosis were diagnosed via using Amsel's and Nugent criteria and all samples were exposed to conventional bacteriological methods for identifying bacterial isolates.
