College of Engineering, University of Al-Qadisiyah organized a symposium on the principles of GIS.
The symposium, in which a number of students and faculty members participated, aimed at introducing the most important principles of GIS and implementing methods of GIS in scientific research as a comprehensive information system for all geographical specialties which helps in the process of urban planning and studies of infrastructure.
The symposium reviewed work mechanism of GIS such as collecting, maintaining, storing, analyzing, producing, distributing and disseminating spatial data and information and revealing the infrastructure of any city by creating the Layers.
The symposium also reviewed the benefits of geographic information systems represented by saving and retrieving information, matching lengths and spaces as well as providing rapid analysis and test of models, analysis of information at different times and displaying and drawing information.
