College of Education, University of Al-Mustansiriyah organized an online symposium on the mechanism of publishing research in recognized international journals via Google Classroom application. The online symposium, in which a number of faculty members, postgraduates and researchers participated, reviewed the determinants and bases of publishing researches in the recognized international journals, addressing problems facing researchers in the publishing, as well as how to distinguish between recognized and fake journals to avoid dealing with them and methods of demonstrating the impact factor. The online symposium also reviewed methods of formulating research and the correct methodology and the steps necessary for writing the researches, choosing the scientific journal that meets the specialization of the researcher, the method of subscribing to the recognized journals, procedures and steps used to register, publish and follow-up the researches and demonstrating the international impact factor and its importance for the faculty member and the university. The online symposium highlighted standards and ethics of scientific publishing and plagiarism and methods of avoiding piracy, and how to protect the rights of publishers for the joint research teams in sequence according to the percentage of participation in the research. The online symposium demonstrated a number of international publishing websites such as Clarivate and Scopus, types of scientific journals, how to identify and distinguish them by relying on the data of recognized websites and specialized institutions in this field. The online symposium recommended the importance of instructing faculty members and postgraduates to publish their researches in the recognized journals of international ranking, verifying the journal's sobriety before publication and selecting the journals with the international reputation and standing.
