A joint research team in the Universities of Al-Mustansiriyah and Technology conducted a joint study on improving the Iris-based personal identification system. The joint study aimed at developing the biometric system used to identify individuals through the iris of the eye via using fractal functions in order to use new protection mechanisms to ensure the correctness and integrity of contact information over open networks. The joint study, which was published in the International Journal of Information and Control Computing in Scopus, demonstrated a suggestion of a new method that depends on the ability of fractal functions to model and describe complex natural patterns to be used in the fractal encoding approach to transfer the compressed analog and examine its ability to develop the performance level of the verification system, as well as analyzing the structure of the iris to increase the security of authentication and identification protocols. It is worth mentioning that the joint research team was the faculty member in Al-Mustansiriyah University, Dr. Arkan Jasim Muhammad and the faculty members in the Technology University, Dr. Naya Muhammad Ghanem, Dr. Razi Al-Azzawi and the researcher, Mr. Aqil Ali.
