Al-Mustansiriyah, Al-Hamdaniah Universities in Joint Academic Study

A joint research team from the Universities of Al-Mustansiriyah and Al-Hamdaniah conducted a joint study on estimating of the increase of concentration of nitrous oxide gas within the troposphere above Iraq. The study reviewed relying on the US satellite data (GOME), analyzing monthly and annual nitrous oxide concentrations and the changes and the impact of this gas on public health, as well as reviewing it causes the high concentrations of air pollutants in cities. The study highlighted that the highest concentrations of nitrous oxide gas over Iraq are in the central governorates during summer and winter seasons and the gas concentrations decrease duirng spring and autumn seasons besides a clear increase in gas levels over Baghdad by an estimated rate of (9.8%) annually. It is worth mentioning that the joint research team was the faculty members in Al-Mustansiriyah University, Dr. Ahmed Sami, Dr. Ali Muhammad Abdul Rahman and Dr. Jassim Hamid and the faculty member in Al-Hamdaniyah University, Dr. Jassem Muhammad Rajab.
