The faculty member in the College of Engineering, Al-Iraqia University, Dr. Sata’a Hekmat Abboud manufactured a device to be used in disinfecting surfaces and polluted air from viruses and bacteria. Dr. Abboud added that the device has the ability to eliminate viruses and bacteria on surfaces and air by breaking their DNA & RNA via using ultraviolet rays, with specific frequencies and a specific irradiation time. Dr. Abboud continued by saying the device can be used in hospitals, public buildings and homes, after testing the effectiveness of the device in eliminating bacteria and viruses in the laboratories of the Research and Development Commission, Ministry of Industry and Minerals.
