College of Science, University of Anbar discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the investigated the relation of Omentin-1 and YKL-40 with some biochemical variables in patients with type 2 diabetes by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Sarab Tariq Mahmoud. The thesis aimed at assessing inflammatory factors and their relation to oxidative stress and some other biochemical variables such as lipids and their role in changing insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes in Anbar Governorate. The thesis confirmed that the concentration of both Omentin-1 and YKL-40 in the serum are related to body mass index, insulin resistance and oxidative stress index. an increase in the level of YKL-40 and a decrease in the level of Amentin-1 in the serum in patients with type 2 diabetes may lead to antioxidant disturbance and increase the production of oxidants that cause the development of complications of type 2 diabetes.
