The faculty members in the Center for Arab and International Studies, University of Al-Mustansiriyah, Dr. Nawar Jalil Hashim, Dr. Haider Ali Hussein and Mr. Amjad Zain Al-Abideen Tohme published a book on Russian policy in the Middle East. The book reviewed the general frameworks of Russian policy, its goals and means, and its path and directions in the Middle East region which is one of the regions of increasing importance in international politics, as well as the Russian stance on the changes that have taken place in the region after (the Arab Spring Revolutions) and the analyzing the active Russian intervention in the important files, foremost of which is counter terrorism and the Syrian crisis. The book also reviewed the Middle East region in light of the active involvement of the Russians in the events through Syria, achieving some strategic goals, the Russian role in drawing some paths of trade interactions in the region, providing a future vision of what the new international system will witness in light of the current circumstances, especially in term of unipolar policy. The book highlighted the importance of the Middle East region in the new Russian strategic perception, Russia's stance and orientations towards the movements of changes taking place in the region, combating terrorism, as well as features and possibilities of future Russian policy to reform the international system and confront the individual American policy and the European Union's rush in a big way towards the top of the international pyramid. The book concluded that Russia after years of retreating and isolation following the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the post-Cold War era, managed to get rid of some of the consequences of the legacy of the past and transcend political and economic retreat due to many influencing of both internal and external factors from formulating a new role of actors and variables, redefining its identity and defining its goals accurately within the interactions of international politics and its impact on global issues that Russia was away of. It is worth mentioning that the book included (218) pages in seven chapters.
