A joint research team in the University of Al-Mustansiriyah and a number of Iraqi and international universities conducted a study on enhancing the cooling system of solar system via using air heat sink with different fin shapes. The study reviewed developing solar cooling systems that represent a new aspect of renewable energy technology to improve levels of solar energy generation. The study aimed at reducing the temperature of the panels by relying on air-cooled solar basins and designing the heat sink via using rectangular fins and gaped fins made from materials with high heat conductivity, as well as reviewing the efficiency of cooling for different forms of heat sinks by changing the number of fins and the distance between gaps. The study concluded that the numerical model using the ANSYS –Fluent program achieves a stable state in the ambient temperature between (25 - 35) Celsius degrees, while increasing the number of fins and gaps reduces the dispersion temperature by (50%) compared to solar panels that do not contains fins. It is worth mentioning that the research joint team from the faculty member in Al-Mustansiriyah University, Hashim Sajit Diwan Al-Rubaie, the faculty member in the Southern Technical University, Karim Khazaal, the faculty member in Thi-Qar University, Dr. Abdullah Khazal and University of South Carolina, American, Dr. Saad Karim Odah as well as the study was published in the British Journal of Science and Engineering in Scopus.
